Manish Sisodia is an Indian politician who currently serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi. He is also the Minister of Education, Finance, Planning, Tourism, and Services in the Delhi government. Sisodia is a prominent member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which was founded in 2012 with the aim of promoting transparency and fighting corruption in the Indian political system.


Early Life and Education


Manish Sisodia was born on February 5, 1972, in a small village called Pilkhuwa in Uttar Pradesh, India. He was raised in a middle-class family and completed his schooling in Delhi. He later pursued a degree in journalism from the Delhi University.


Sisodia started his career as a journalist, working for a Hindi-language newspaper. He later moved on to work for Zee News as a news producer. During his time as a journalist, he became interested in the issue of education in India and started to work as an education activist.


Activism and Political Career


Sisodia's work as an education activist began in 2006 when he founded the NGO Parivartan, which focused on issues of transparency and accountability in governance. Parivartan played a key role in advocating for the implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act in India, which allows citizens to access information held by public authorities.


In 2012, Sisodia joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which was founded by Arvind Kejriwal and other anti-corruption activists. The party's focus on transparency and accountability resonated with Sisodia's own values, and he quickly rose through the ranks of the party.


In the 2013 Delhi Assembly elections, Sisodia contested and won the Patparganj constituency, becoming a member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly. In the subsequent 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, he won the same constituency again with a significant margin. He was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, as well as the Minister of Education, Finance, Planning, Tourism, and Services in the Delhi government.


Education Reforms


As the Minister of Education, Sisodia has played a key role in implementing several key education reforms in Delhi. Under his leadership, the Delhi government has focused on improving the quality of education in government schools and reducing the dropout rate.


One of the key initiatives launched by Sisodia is the 'Chunauti Scheme', which aims to improve the learning outcomes of students in Delhi government schools. The scheme involves dividing students into different groups based on their learning levels and providing targeted interventions to help them improve their academic performance.


Sisodia has also focused on improving the infrastructure of government schools in Delhi. Under his leadership, the Delhi government has built several new schools and classrooms, and has provided facilities such as libraries, computer labs, and playgrounds.
